What age can my child start martial arts at Orion Martial Arts?
Children can begin training at Orion Martial Arts as young as 2 years old, depending on the program and readiness of the student. Our age-appropriate classes focus on confidence, listening skills, coordination, respect, and self-discipline while introducing the fundamentals of Tang Soo Do in a fun and supportive environment.
Do I need previous martial arts experience to join?
No experience is required. Many students begin with no martial arts background at all. Our beginner-friendly classes in San Marcos teach the fundamentals of Tang Soo Do, fitness, confidence, and self-defense in a welcoming environment for children, teens, and adults.
What style of martial arts does Orion Martial Arts teach?

Do you offer a free trial class?
Yes. New students are welcome to try a class at Orion Martial Arts in San Marcos before enrolling. A trial class is a great opportunity to meet our instructors, experience a Tang Soo Do class, and see which program is the best fit for your family.
How many classes per week should beginners attend?
Most beginners see excellent progress by attending two classes per week. Consistent training helps students build confidence, improve fitness, and develop the skills needed to advance through the Tang Soo Do belt ranks while balancing school, work, and family activities.
What should my child wear to the first class?
For a trial class, comfortable athletic clothing is perfect. Students can wear a T-shirt and athletic pants or shorts. After enrollment, Orion Martial Arts will help you select the appropriate Tang Soo Do uniform (dobok) and any required training equipment.
Does Orion Martial Arts have a competition team?
Yes. The Hunters Competition Team provides dedicated tournament training for students who want to compete in forms, sparring, and weapons competition. Team members represent Orion Martial Arts at local, regional, and national Tang Soo Do events while developing confidence, sportsmanship, and leadership.
What is the Orion Martial Arts Demo Team?
The Orion Martial Arts Demo Team performs exciting martial arts demonstrations at community events, festivals, tournaments, and special performances throughout the San Diego area. Students develop teamwork, leadership, precision, and confidence while showcasing the traditions and spirit of Tang Soo Do.
