Grandmaster Laura Gomez

Grandmaster Laura Gomez has dedicated more than five decades to the study and teaching of traditional Tang Soo Do, beginning her martial arts journey at the age of 14. As the first female Grandmaster in the world, she has devoted her life to preserving the traditions, philosophy, and values of Tang Soo Do while helping generations of students develop confidence, discipline, respect, and leadership.

Granted Grandmaster in 2021, a 9th Degree Black Belt (Pin # 14904), Grandmaster Gomez earned her rank through the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation, formerly the American Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Association. Her martial arts lineage traces directly to Hwang Kee, founder of Moo Duk Kwan and Tang Soo Do. Throughout her career, she has trained under distinguished masters including Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim (Pin # 38), founder of the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation and a direct student of Hwang Kee; Grandmaster Dr. Michael Cox (Pin # 14685); and Grandmaster Myong Saul Kim, son of Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim and current head of the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation.

Since 1982, Grandmaster Gomez has served as Owner and Chief Instructor of Orion Martial Arts, dedicating her career to providing exceptional martial arts instruction grounded in traditional values. In 2021, Grandmaster Gomez started the Traditional Tang Soo Do Alliance, where she continues to uphold the highest standards of instruction while preserving the rich legacy of Tang Soo Do for future generations.
